The “Battle of the Batteries” competition is well and truly underway in Piercestown N.S. as part of our journey towards our next Green Schools Flag.
Each class from junior infants to 6th class are in the race to collect and recycle the most batteries on a half-term basis. The class who collect and recycle the most batteries each month will win a homework pass for the following month.
The Green Schools Committee will be busy collecting and counting the batteries from each class and will announce the winners at the end of each half-term.
A big WELL DONE to Ms. Hearne’s 3rd class who collected a whopping 611 batteries during the first half-term and swooped the first homework pass prize of the year. Also, a huge congratulations to Ms. Newport’s 1st class who were very close, in 2nd place with 600 batteries, and also scooped a homework pass for November.
Well done to everyone who participated in our very first “Battle of the Batteries” in Piercestown N.S. and good luck to everyone for the coming half-term competition. Happy recycling!!
A “Battle of the Batteries” poster competition is also up and running – the children from 2nd to 6th have been invited to design and decorate their own poster and slogan to raise awareness in recycling batteries at home and in school.
Keep your eyes peeled on our Green Schools noticeboard for the winner at the end of the week!
