It has been a hectic week in sport so far with a mixed bag of results. The girls’ B team travelled to Taghmon on Monday to take part in a blitz. They arrived back victorious with the cup in their hands! Well done to Ms. Hearne and the girls.
The girls’ A team are out in semi final action against Kilrush tomorrow in St. Patrick’s Park at 2pm. Admission for spectators is €3 per adult. They have their hearts set on a place in the final. Best of luck to Ms. Hearne and the girls.
The boys took part in their semi final today in Kilmore versus Rathangan. We got off to a slow start and trailed at half time. However, the turn around in the second half was one to be proud of. They left nothing behind them on the pitch but unfortunately the result wasn’t what we hoped for. Final score was 4-6 to 3-6. It was a hard dressing room to be in as the air of defeat descended upon us. But we couldn’t have asked for anymore of each and every player. They were gallant in their come back effort and heroic even in defeat. There are few words of comfort when we suffer defeat except that we gave it our all and unfortunately this was not to be our year. For 6th class we thank you for your efforts and to the boys in 4th and 5th class we look forward to another shot at Rackard league football in 2017. But for now time to dust off the hurleys and set our sights on the hurling league. Something to look forward to.
Many thanks to Mr. Murphy and Mr. White from Murrintown who train and guide the boys so well!
A huge thanks to all of the parents who assist us by driving the length and breadth of the county to facilitate us participating in our sports.
The boys B team still have two matches remaining so watch this space!
