GAA coaching as organised by Wexford GAA resumes business at Piercestown N.S. on Wednesday Sept 16th.
This year sees the coaching officers introduce a new programme ‘Introduction to Gaelic Games’.
This operates on the development of what the GAA refers to as the A, B, C’s (agility, balance and co-ordination) and the RJT’s (running, jumping and throwing). These basic skills need to be developed from the bottom up hence coaching is being offered this year by Wexford coaching to the following classes:
- Junior Infants
- Senior Infants
- 1st class
- 2nd class
- 3rd class
- 4th class
As there is no in school coaching on offer to 5th and 6th class at present, a meeting was held with the local club St. Martin’s and alternative options are currently being explored. In the meantime, Rackard league for those interested in 5th and 6th class is taking off in full flight and mini sevens competitions resume at the end of the month.
For the purpose of the in school coaching where possible classes from 1st class – 4th class should have hurleys and helmets. Infant classes will be using bean bags and small indoor hurleys as supplied by the school and coaches. Should you require any further information, please don’t hesitate to ask.
Is this after or during school hours?
Hi Breege, GAA coaching is always inside of school hours.
The infants will start the morning session off with the coaches.
Kind regards,
Laura
