Trick of Treat for Temple Street

This year will see Piercestown National School support the ‘Trick or Treat’ for Temple Street Campaign.

This will involve all of the children dressing up for ‘Freaky Friday’ on Fri 28th October.

The funds raised for Temple Street Hospital will go towards purchasing critical Digital X-Ray equipment which plays a crucial life-saving role. With these high-spec machines, Temple Street Hospital will be able to produce high quality digital x-rays much quicker meaning larger numbers of children can be seen in one day, reducing stressful waiting times for children and parents. Most importantly, this will result in better information and better care.

Therefore, we ask that all children make a donation of €1 (or more if you wish to)  on the day.

To add a little incentive to the charity fundraiser event, there will be a small prize for BEST COSTUME in each class group.

So get your thinking caps on for your Halloween outfit.

Camogie County Final

St martin's wexford.jpg

All roads lead to Belfield this Saturday as the St. Martin’s Camogie team aim to make history. The staff, management and children of Piercestown National School wish to extend their best wishes to the St. Martin’s Camogie team as they take part in the County Final this Saturday 8th October 2016.

The 3.45pm throw in will see St. Martin’s camogie team take on Oulart. This is only the second time the Camogie team have reached the County final and makes them more eager than ever to succeed. The first County final was 1983, followed by a return to the final in 2005 only to be beaten by Oulart by two points.

Let’s hope this Saturday will see St. Martin’s come out on the winning side and making history!

So if you are free this Saturday – Belfied Park is the place to be! Come on St. Martin’s!

Mindful Monday 1st-6th class

Mindful Monday proved to be a positive experience in the school last year. We will be looking at further developing the whole area of positive mental health in the school.

To start it off, 1st – 6th class will take part in Mindful Monday today. Next month, will see the Junior and Senior infants join in.

So tonight, all children from 1st-6th will have no homework. This will give them an opportunity instead to engage in a relaxing and mindful activity with you their family.

It is encouraged to be a technology free time – some suggestions are:

Play a game

Make a jigsaw

Bake together

Sit down and chat about the day

Eat your evening meal together

Look at photographs

Go for a walk/cycle

Read a story together

After the activity, your child is asked to draw a picture or write a description of what they did.

We look forward to hearing the children share about some of their ‘mindful moments’ tomorrow
