The Child Protection Policy and Critical Incident Policy, recently ratified by the Board of Management, are now available for viewing in the policy section of this website. The Code of Behaviour Policy is currently under review. A draft copy of the updated policy is now available for viewing in our policy section and parental feedback is most welcome.

The sacrament of Confirmation will take place this coming Thursday, 31st May at 11:00am. Best of luck to 6th class, Ms. Sinnott, Fr. O’Reilly and the choir as they make their final preparations for this very special occasion. Many thanks to Piercestown Parents’ Association who will provide refreshments for the children and their families in the scout hall after the ceremony.

Europe Day 2018 at Piercestown N.S.
As many of you already know, Piercestown National School is a proud Blue Star School.
The Blue Star Programme is an education initiative for primary school students across Ireland. The idea of the programme is to foster better understanding and knowledge of Europe and how it affects the lives of Irish citizens among Irish primary pupils through classroom projects and activities.

UN Chernobyl Remembrance Day

Yesterday marked the 32nd Anniversary of the Chernobyl accident and United Nations Chernobyl Disaster Remembrance Day Our school took a moment to commemorate all victims of this tragedy and share a global message of HOPE and LOVE with the generations of innocent children whose lives have been gravely affected by Chernobyl. #UNCHERNOBYLDAY #IWILLNOTFORGETYOU #WEWILLNOTFORGETYOU

Autism Awareness Month
April is Autism Awareness Month. Here’s a video clip you might like to watch with your children. It introduces Julia, an old buddy of Elmo’s and the newest friend on Sesame Street. Annual Art Exhibition

Piercestown N.S. will open its Annual Art Exhibition on Tuesday 17th April at 6:30pm. The exhibition will once again be opened by local Artist & Poet, Helen Gaynor. This year also, 5th class will display their project from the BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition. The Piercestown Parents Association will provide refreshments on the night and all families are invited to attend.
The exhibition will remain open every day during school hours until Friday 4th May and parents are most welcome to come in and have a look at the wonderful display of beautiful art and craft work created by the children.

The boys and girls of 1st class in Piercestown N.S. were ‘rocking their odd socks’ today in celebration of Downs Syndrome Day which takes place annual on the 21st of March.
