On the morning of Thursday 11^th February, Fr. O’Reilly celebrated his final mass in Piercestown. He was joined by Fr. Aodhán Marken and handed over the key to the church during the ceremony. Many parishioners and members of school staff joined in the celebration remotely. The following day was his official retirement day. Ms. Walsh arrived at his doorstep and presented him with a book full of good wishes from the whole school community. It was a lovely way of marking the day, especially in the absence of a ‘big send off’ which unfortunately is not possible at this time. Fr. O’Reilly was truly touched by the gesture and commented on how, for the first time ever, he would have plenty of time to read the book! Once again, on behalf of our whole school community we would like to thank Fr. O’Reilly for his many years of dedicated service and wish him the very best of luck in his retirement.
