Suggested Snow Day Activities

If you are concerned about the impact that the closure due to ‘snow’ will have on your child’s education, the following suggestions have been compiled by Piercestown National School.

****There is no obligation on any child/parent to complete this work. This is an option for those who wish to avail of it. *****

 

Junior Classes (Infants -2nd) Senior Classes (3rd– 6th)
 

Junior and Senior Infants

·       Read a story/book

·       Write a sentence or two/three (Senior Infants) and draw a picture about ‘My Day off in the Snow’

 

1st/2nd Class

·       Read a story/book

·       Write a diary entry and draw a picture about ‘My Day off in the Snow’

·       Write two Maths problems about the snow, e.g. Ms. Walsh threw 13 snowballs and Mrs. Corrigan threw 17. How many did they throw altogether?

·       Complete the Wednesday section in your Mental Maths book

 

**Go and build a snowman and have fun!

 

·  Read a chapter of a book/novel

·       Write a diary entry about  ‘My Day off from School in the Snow’

·       Complete an acrostic poem on ‘SNOWFLAKES’ i.e. write the letters down vertically and come up with a snow related word for each letter e.g. Soft, Nice, Outside….etc.

·       Complete the Wednesday section in your Mental Maths book

·       Revise tables/spellings (if applicable)

·       Gaeilge – Write a few sentences about the snow.
