100% Attendance 2015 – 2016

What an achievement for 20 children in Piercestown N.S. who had a 100% attendance record for the school year 2015 2016.

In fact, for two children it was their second year in a row winning this award! We also had two siblings from two families!

Three medals were being sent on to pupils from last years 6th class group.

When asked the children said that it was ‘easy’ enough to achieve! They advised children to ‘not go on holidays’ if you want to get the medal and ‘make sure you are wrapped up warm when playing outside to try and avoid getting sick’ as some of their strategies for success.

Guitar returns this week

Mini 7’s update and Rackard League

football

Last week saw the Mini 7’s tournament begin for both the boys and girls. The girls travelled to Rathangan on Thursday and won their group to advance to round two of the tournament due to take place this week. The boys played at home and after a tough match against Mayglass they too advanced to the next round. Training for the girls takes place on Monday at lunchtime and the boys will train on Tuesday.

Rackard league kicks off this week also with both the boys and girls travelling to Taghmon on Friday to play against Taghmon at 1.30pm. Due to the new legislation around garda vetting we will be putting a call out for more parents to be vetted this week. Without drivers vetted it will not be possible for us to participate in the much loved league.

Best of luck to the boys and girls in both Rackard league and mini 7’s this week. All systems go!

Look who came hopping by…

20160908_145157

There was great excitement in Piercestown National School on Thursday with a friendly frog coming hopping by. Mrs. Barrett’s second class got up close and personal with their froggy friend and managed to capture him temporarily for a closer look. Being a Green School however, the welfare of our froggy friend was paramount and after a quick visit to the boys and girls he was returned to the outdoors to hop along! Ms. Walsh managed to capture the photographic evidence before he was released!

Lenrec Clothing Recycling: Oct 3rd

recycle clothes

With the children back to school, it might be time to do an ‘Autumn’ clean on the wardrobes. As per previous years, the Parents’ Association will be organising a clothing recycling event in the next few weeks This will take place October 3rd.

This will give you an opportunity to clear out your closets while simultaneously making money for your school.

What do we want?

We would really appreciate clothes, in good condition that have been washed and cleaned and are recyclable. For every 10kg of clothing we will receive €5.50

Many thanks for your co-operation with this.
