Paired Reading Fun!!

Ms. Taylor’s Junior Infants were delighted to have special visitors in from Ms. Cooney’s 5th class today, to participate in paired reading activities. Junior Infants are currently learning all about spring, animals and the farm in Aistear, and so, picked one of many farm and animal books from the classroom library to read with their 5th class buddies during our exciting world book week. Great fun was had by all!

Leinster Rugby Trophy Tour

Tuesday Jan 22nd saw two large pieces of silverware enter the grounds of Piercestown N.S. While it might not have been the Liam McCarthy cup, the boys and girls were almost as excited when the PRO14 League cup and the Champions Trophy, both won by Leinster, were brought in by our rugby coach Corey Carty. There was great excitement as each class got their photo taken with the cups. Rumour has it there were a few Johnny Sexton fans in the audience! Here are some photos of this event.

All Roads lead to Croker 3rd March

All roads lead to Croker March 3rd as St. Martin’s camogie team aim to make history and bring the Senior club All Ireland cup home. The boys and girls at Piercestown N.S. steered by their super efficient ‘Active committee’, were proactive in their support for ladies in the semi final. They organised a colouring competition for Junior and Senior infants and a slogan competition for 1st to 6th class. Then, they decorated the school windows and doors with all the entrants.  After securing the place in the final, an Bainisteoir Maura O’Connor, arrived to the school to judge the competition and select a winner from each class. Well done to everyone who entered. Check out some of the photos below for some of the entries and the Active committe. Winners photos coming soon!

Friday March 1st will see Piercestown N.S. host a jersey day as a fundraiser for the camogie team! The excitment is building already.
